BBHHS Hosts Naturalization Ceremony for 22 New U.S. Citizens

BBHHS Hosts Naturalization Ceremony for 22 New U.S. Citizens

Brecksville-Broadview Heights High School recently hosted a Naturalization Ceremony for approximately 22 individuals seeking citizenship in the United States of America. During an annual event that blends patriotism and reverence, the Naturalization Ceremony is made possible with the assistance of the Honorable Suzana K. Koch, Federal Judge of the United States District Court for the Northern District of Ohio, who administers the oath of allegiance and shares remarks of the importance of citizenship, personal experiences, and a background of the significance of each color in the American Flag. Superintendent Jeffrey D. Harrison welcomed a participating audience of families of the new citizens, students from the High School, local elected leaders, and community members. High School Teacher Mr. Jonah Pichette provided historical context for the ceremony, including references to the U.S. Constitution and Declaration of Independence. Victoria Keller, a student at BBHHS, also offered her own personal experiences of being a child of immigrants, during an important speech she too shared with the audience. Thank you the members of the High School Chamber Choir and Orchestra for performing patriotic songs including the National Anthem, along with the Boy Scouts, who presented the colors. Congratulations, once again, to the 22 new citizens of the United States of America who shared in a memorable ceremony at BBHHS earlier this week.
